Loan Policies for Magazines
State Library-Produced Magazines (which include both Nebraska-recorded magazines and those recorded in studios at other regional libraries or organizations) issues will come as a mint green cartridge in an unmarked gray case. Although there is no formal length of time allotted to keep your magazine issues, we do ask that you try to return each issue within a month of arrival; and a maximum of three magazine cartridges may be on loan to a borrower at a time.
Nationally-Produced Magazines (which are produced by National Library Service (NLS)) will come as a peach cartridge in a clear-white. These cartridges will often contain more than one magazine issue. To read cartridges with multiple magazines, go to "Bookshelf." Here is how: 1) Insert the cartridge in your Library of Congress digital player. 2) Press and hold the green Play/Stop key until you hear "Bookshelf". 3) Press the Rewind or Fast Forward arrow keys to find the magazine you want. 4) Press the Play/Stop key again to listen to that issue. These magazines issues due dates vary on type of magazine (if a cartridge contains all weekly magazines, your due date is three weeks past time of arrival; and if there are monthly magazines on a cartridge then your due date is extended to seven weeks past arrival date.
Note: Nationally-Distributed audio magazines are also available for download on the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) service.
